Tattoo Removal Hertfordshire

At Harpenden Skin Clinic in Hertfordshire, we offer tattoo removal to anyone with a tattoo that they no longer want.

Tattoos are very personal and sometimes our reasons for getting them change throughout our lives. Perhaps your tattoo no longer holds significance or you no longer identify with the mark. Perhaps your tattoo has never been what you hoped it would be.

With modern technology, tattoos do not need to be a permanent presence in your life. No matter the size of your tattoo or colour of ink used, we can remove it for you.

To find out more about our Hertfordshire tattoo removal services, give us a call on 01582 822000 or contact us online to book a consultation.

How does tattoo removal work?

Tattoo removal uses lasers to break up the ink in the dermis layer of your skin.

Light energy from the laser is absorbed by the ink pigment. The pigment is dissolved and reabsorbed by the body’s immune system and the tattoo disappears.

Different wavelengths of light are used to target different colours of ink.

Most clients require more than one session of tattoo removal. The number of sessions will depend on the size, location and colouring of your tattoo, as well as your skin type.

Book a consultation with one of our specialists to discuss your individual circumstances and find out more about cost and what’s involved.

What does tattoo removal involve at Harpenden, Hertfordshire?

A date and a time for your treatment sessions can be arranged after your initial consultation with us.

At our Hertfordshire clinic, we use the Harmony XL Laser for tattoo removal.

Each treatment session could last between 15 minutes and one hour, followed by up to one week’s downtime period.

Anaesthetic cream will be applied to dull any feelings of discomfort that the treatment might cause. Tattoo removal can be an uncomfortable experience, but no more than getting the tattoo in the first place.

Temporary side effects of tattoo removal may include: redness, swelling, scabbing, blistering, bruising and hyper-pigmentation. It can take anywhere from a few hours to a week for these to disappear.

Scarring as a result of this procedure is rare and we will give you detailed aftercare instructions to prevent it and ensure that your skin heals properly.
